About Bellanude

Sarah Murphy at work in the studio

Fife born couture womenswear designer Sarah Murphy first began creating dresses whilst studying Advanced Higher Art and Design. This experience inspired Sarah to study Fashion and Textiles at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen. During her time at university Sarah had the opportunity to move to Hong Kong to intern within the Barbie Team at Mattel, an experience she describes as ‘life changing’. When back in the UK Sarah went on to complete a short course at London College of Fashion, UAL in Structured Bra Making where Sarah further understood the contours of the female form. Whilst in her final year Sarah created her collection ‘Seduire’ which took influence from contemporary architecture and lingerie from the past using soft pastel pinks and nude.

When leaving Gray’s School of Art, Sarah decided to continue with Education and studied to become an Art and Design Teacher at Edinburgh University whilst continuing to stay in touch with her fashion roots by designing on the side.

Now launching ‘Bellanude by Sarah Murphy’ Sarah continues to design using her trademark voluminous style whilst framing the contours of the female body. Runway gowns can be seen featured in Vogue Italia, showcased at The Clothes Show Liverpool 2017, CATWALK St Andrews 2018, Dont Walk St Andrews 2020 and most recently supporting Edinburgh’s Charity Fashion Show 2020 at the National Museum of Scotland.

Sarah continues to teach Art and Design at a secondary school inspiring the youth of today to continue with their passion alongside working on couture pieces in her studio at her home in Fife.
